The September 11th Memorial at Cemetery of the Holy Rood features the names of over 400 men and women who lost their lives due to the events of September 11, 2001. If you have a loved one who passed away on 9/11/2001 or due to a 9/11-related illness, their name may be added to the memorial at no cost to the family. Your loved one does not need to be buried in one of our cemeteries in order to have their name added. In order to have a name added to the memorial, please click the link below to access the Memorialization Request Form.

Mass of Remembrance – September 11, 2021

In recognition of the 20th anniversary of 9-11, Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island hosted a special open-air Mass of Remembrance at Cemetery of the Holy Rood at the cemetery’s September 11th Memorial. The mass included:

  • Bishop John O. Barres, Celebrant
  • Nassau County Chapter “Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Honor Guard”
  • St Anthony’s HS “Celtic Friars Pipes & Drums”
  • Chaminade HS “Vocal Chamber Ensemble”
  • Deacons who assist Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island throughout the year
