Pre-Planning Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What are the benefits of pre-planning?
There are many reasons why it makes sense to pre-plan your final resting place. Here are just a few:
- Relieve your family of the stress and financial burden of making arrangements at a difficult time.
- Secure a preferred burial location that best meets your family’s needs.
- Ensure a final resting place that reflects your core Catholic beliefs.
- Lock in today’s pricing. Costs for cemetery spaces are subject to increases as the years go by.

I need to plan the funeral of a loved one. Where should I start?
Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island has put together a checklist to help walk families through the steps of preparing for a loved one’s funeral. The checklist can be viewed by clicking the link below.
Do you offer payment plans?
Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island offers no interest payment plans with only 10% down.
Please keep in mind that spaces must be paid in full before any burials may be permitted in a grave, crypt, or niche.
Is cremation permitted by the Catholic Church?
Yes. Cremation became an acceptable practice by the Catholic Church in 1963. The Church teaches that cremated remains must be given the same respect as the body, including the manner in which they are carried, and the attention given to their appropriate transport and placement. The cremated remains of a body are to be buried or entombed, preferably in a Catholic cemetery, using the rites provided by the Order of Christian Funerals.
